This morning Robynn was scheduled to have her Pic line removed and a Port put in. Her chemo treatments, blood draws and any IV meds will continue to be administered through her new gadget. She was sedated and is in the recovery room now, but the Dr. told Brian that everything went smoothly.
Your prayers are working because she had a pleasant day yesterday...keep up the good work "Army Goodell"!

If I had to choose, I would much rather have a "port" than a "pic"... PORT sounds very nautical, like an exotic island. PIC sounds like something you do to a scab.
Accentuate the positive - Hooray for the new port!
My best wishes to Robynn and family!

The surgery for the port sucks, as does the removal...but it's the best thing for long term meds! A cystic fibrosis patient, and lung transplant survivor, the port was my saving grace from continued picc's and poke's for iv's. Hang in there Robynn! I named my first port BERT, the next ERNIE...My bert and ernie were the best thing I ever did. Maybe terminator would be a good name for you new friend. Also, the swelling will go down, and after the first few times they "access" your port, you won't even feel it! Hang in, we're praying for you daily!

Robynn: Hang in there, my husband had a port and it was easier for the blood draw and chemo. None of it is ever fun...I admire you so much. This evening, a robin with brown wings and a red breast was hanging out in the backyard with us and he made me think of you and when he flew away, I imagined your pain flying away. :)
Hello Robynn:
It am hoping the port ends up being so much better for you. It has been a bit since I have written on the blog, but I wanted to let you know you looked absolutely beautiful on TV. Your words were just perfect. I continue to think of you each day and send positive thoughts your way. Every day I get in my car I see your magnet and I am reminded how each moment of our lives are precious.
Thank you for that.

Hooray for the port! It's weird, lately I have been accessing so many of those at work and think of you and how much you are going to love it! Hope to see you soon!
